Three podcasts for roadtrips

Updated: Jul 10, 2019

Dirtbag Diaries, Outside, Out There, The Fern Line, The Sharp End, etc. etc. etc. I can list countless outdoor podcasts you likely already know about. I could do the same for any podcast, really. This short list is about adding a little something extra to the mix, and why I download them to my Spotify.

Binge Mode - The Ringer

1. Binge Mode: The Ringer Podcast Network has a little something for everything in regards to sports, best sellers and bests watched. My personal favorite is Binge Mode with Mallory Rubin and Jason Concepcion. Mallory and Jason add commentary and review favorites like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. If you enjoy the books or shows, you are sure to enjoy their comical deep dives into the story lines. Spoiler Alert: Minerva “McGallion” Mcgonagall has a serious Quidditch gambling problem.

Ear Biscuits Podcasts

2. Ear Biscuits: It’s not for everyone, but those of us that grew up anywhere close to the south will find Rhett and Link’s bantering syruply wonderful. Syruply is not a real word, but it seems like something Rhett and Link would say in their every day conversation. Friends since first grade, these two Carolina boys take me back home to my small Texas town. Shenanigans and silliness ensue in their candid discussions recapping life.

RadioLab

3. “Colors” by Radio Lab: NPR did a Radio Lab episode on color that was so popular, Radio Lab did an entire series dedicated to color in the world around us. I caught it first during the second round, Rippin’ the Rainbow an Even Newer One, with an episode on the peacock mantis shrimp. The stories and science behind them are colorfully wonderful listening for winding mountain roads.

"Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. The friends who listen to us are the ones we move toward. When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand." --Karl A. Menniger
